The Gyeonggi Institute of Health and Environment announced on December 26, 2025, that all 249 samples of eco-friendly agricultural products sold at 62 distribution outlets in the province from January to November this year were found to be "compliant" in a safety inspection.
The institute collected samples from a total of 62 distribution outlets, including hypermarkets, department stores, food material marts, small and medium-sized marts, and online shopping malls across 25 cities and counties, and conducted a detailed analysis.
The inspection covered a total of 249 items, including 63 organic agricultural products and 186 pesticide-free agricultural products. By category, there were 135 samples of vegetables, 60 mushrooms, 21 grains, 15 fruits, 15 tubers, and 3 nuts and seeds.
The analysis of residual pesticides showed that no residual pesticides were detected in any of the items.
Eco-friendly agricultural products are produced and managed with reduced or no use of chemically synthesized pesticides and fertilizers. Organic agricultural products are cultivated without synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers, while pesticide-free agricultural products are produced without the use of pesticides and with chemical fertilizer usage limited within a specified range.
Do Youngsook, Director of the Agricultural and Marine Products Inspection Division at the Gyeonggi Institute of Health and Environment, stated, "Through this inspection, we have once again confirmed the management standards and safety of eco-friendly agricultural products distributed in the province. We will continue to conduct inspections to ensure the safety of agricultural products, thereby increasing public trust in certified eco-friendly products and strengthening safety management at the distribution stage."
