This year’s drill was conducted on October 23 at the Hyundai Soo Resort. The focus was on ensuring citizen safety and strengthening disaster response capabilities in preparation for large-scale disasters.

Approximately 300 participants, including citizens, related organizations, and private groups, attended the drill. It was carried out as a complex exercise simulating fire and wildfire scenarios in densely populated facilities, closely mirroring real-life situations.

During the drill, various situations were simulated, such as disaster situation dissemination, situation assessment meetings, and on-site responses, to evaluate the speed and coordination of the response system. Both discussion-based and field-based training were conducted simultaneously, allowing participants to practice the entire process-from the operation of the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to initial response, management, and recovery-as if in real situations.

In particular, the drill assumed a large-scale disaster involving the Hyundai Soo Resort and nearby forests, with a concentrated review of the cooperation system among related organizations. The robust cooperation between citizens and relevant agencies, as well as thorough disaster preparedness, received high praise.

A Sokcho City official stated, “Achieving an excellent rating for three consecutive years is thanks to the active participation of citizens and systematic cooperation among related organizations. We will continue to prioritize citizen safety through ongoing training and improvements, and build an even more effective disaster response system.”
