"Improving Residential and Working Environments"
Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province has successfully concluded the '2025 Support Project for Management Costs of Aging Apartment Complexes' and the '2025 Participatory Budget (Community Facilities) Support Project' with strong support from citizens.
According to the city on December 24, these support projects were implemented to improve the residential environment for residents of aging apartment complexes and to enhance the working conditions of apartment workers such as security guards.
This year, the city allocated a total budget of 2.6 billion won, including both city and provincial funds, to provide subsidies to 105 aging apartment complexes in the Jeonju area.
Among these, the support project for management costs of aging apartment complexes selected recipients through a rigorous screening process by the Apartment Support Review Committee after establishing the project plan in January. In addition, the recipients of the participatory budget (community facilities) support project were determined last year through deliberation by the city and provincial participatory budget committees.
The apartment complexes that were approved for subsidies completed planned projects between February and December, including: ▲ waterproofing work on aging rooftops to prevent leaks, ▲ repairing and repainting exterior wall cracks to improve the appearance of the complexes, and ▲ improving working conditions for employees by redecorating staff break rooms and purchasing air conditioning, heating, and furniture.
A city official stated, "Through this subsidy support, we have reduced the management cost burden of aging apartments and greatly improved the living environment for residents as well as the working conditions for security guards and other apartment workers. We will continue to promote subsidy support projects for apartment complexes that citizens can tangibly feel, making Jeonju a safer and more livable city."
