This lecture was organized to help citizens gain a correct understanding of hypertension and dyslipidemia, which are major risk factors for cardiovascular disease, and to highlight the importance of prevention and ongoing management.

On this day, Professor Lee Haeyoung from the Department of Cardiology at Seoul National University Hospital gave a lecture, sharing the current status of cardiovascular disease treatment in Korea, the principles of diagnosing and treating hypertension, and specific management strategies for hypertension in the elderly.

Following this, Professor Heo Sungho, Director of the Hanam City Hypertension and Diabetes Registration Education Center and a cardiologist at Catholic University of St. Vincent's Hospital, delivered a lecture on strategies for managing dyslipidemia.

Professor Heo Sungho emphasized, "Dyslipidemia often goes unmanaged due to its lack of symptoms, but for the prevention of cardiovascular disease, consistent medication prescribed by a specialist is the most evidence-based approach." He also shared real cases from university hospital clinics to increase empathy among citizens.

After the lectures, there was a Q&A session where citizens could directly communicate with the cardiology professors. The session featured active discussions on the necessity of medication, misconceptions about long-term treatment, and integrated management methods for complex chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia.

In addition, before and after the event, a campaign and promotional zone for the prevention and management of cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases were operated to encourage citizens to practice healthy lifestyles.

Park Kangyong, Director of the Hanam City Public Health Center, stated, "Hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia must be managed together to effectively prevent cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases," adding, "We will continue to promote professional education and prevention-focused health management programs tailored to citizens' needs."

This lecture was broadcast live on YouTube (Hanam Godang TV) for citizens who could not attend in person, and a recorded video is also available.

Meanwhile, this special lecture was organized by the Hanam City Hypertension and Diabetes Registration Education Center, with support from Hanam City and Catholic University of St. Vincent's Hospital. Citizens wishing to receive related education or counseling can contact the Hanam City Hypertension and Diabetes Registration Education Center.
