On December 24, Gyeonggi Province delivered a donation of 2,848,650 won, accumulated through its leftover reduction efforts, to the Green Umbrella ChildFund Korea.
Gyeonggi Province has been running the "Challenge! Zero Leftovers!" campaign, in which 10% of the daily cafeteria meal payments are set aside for child support organizations whenever employees achieve the target for average leftover amount per person.
This year, employees at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government successfully met the target a total of seven times: three times with an average leftover amount of less than 50 grams per person, three times with less than 40 grams, and once with less than 30 grams.

The total donations collected through this initiative amounted to 2,848,650 won, an increase from last year’s 1,976,450 won.
Donated in the name of "All Employees of Gyeonggi Provincial Government," the funds will be used for the Green Umbrella ChildFund Korea’s climate environment campaign, "Climate Change Becomes the New Normal."
The donation will provide winter clothing and electric heating supplies to children from low-income families who are vulnerable to extreme weather events such as cold waves.
Seo Gicheon, Director of General Affairs at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The fact that everyday efforts to reduce leftovers have led not only to carbon reduction but also to support for climate-vulnerable groups is highly meaningful," adding, "We will continue to foster an organizational culture that practices both environmental protection and sharing."
