The SWD activity, also known as the "Safe Walking Inspection," brings together executives, labor union members, the safety and health team, and on-site workers to directly inspect and communicate at the worksite. During the inspection process, participants identify potential risk factors in the work environment, inconveniences faced by workers, and equipment or work methods that require improvement. Issues identified are either addressed immediately or managed through systematic improvement plans.
Dong-A Pharmaceutical aims to establish an organizational culture in which safety and health are recognized as a shared responsibility of both labor and management, rather than the work of a specific department, through the SWD activity. In 2025, a total of 36 improvement items were identified through SWD activities. Of these, 26 have been completed, achieving an improvement rate of 72%. For the remaining 10 items, improvement plans have been established, and step-by-step enhancements will be pursued.
In addition, Dong-A Pharmaceutical conducted follow-up audits of the ISO14001 and ISO45001 environmental, safety, and health management systems at its three business sites (Cheonan, Dangjin, and Icheon). Starting with the Icheon plant on the 17th of last month, followed by the Cheonan plant on the 18th and the Dangjin plant on the 19th, the company completed the follow-up audits without any issues. The audits focused on the actual operational performance of the system, including risk assessment system management, implementation of field improvement activities, worker participation and communication, and continuous improvement processes.
Kang Boseong, Head of Production at Dong-A Pharmaceutical, stated, "Safety is more important when it is actually practiced in the field rather than just existing as documents or systems. Through SWD activities, we will continue to listen directly to the voices at the site and strive for tangible improvements."
Jung Yongjin, Head of the Production Division Labor Union at Dong-A Pharmaceutical, also commented, "SWD activities are meaningful because labor and management observe and communicate together at the site. The union will actively participate to ensure that workers' opinions lead to real improvements."
