The event was organized to share cultural policies among local governments nationwide and to promote outstanding best practices. It was co-hosted by the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Economic Promotion Agency and the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters, with Wonju City serving as a sponsor.
Under the theme "Culture, City, and Resilience," the event brought together over 600 public officials and related personnel from 84 cities, counties, and districts across the country. The program included panel discussions, case presentations, cultural performances, and more.
A total of 160 cases were submitted across three categories: ▲Implementation of cultural governance ▲Activation of cultural activities ▲Urban vitality through cultural infrastructure (economic revitalization). Of these, 27 cases were selected as outstanding examples.
In the category of activating cultural activities, Wonju City received the grand prize for its case, "Picture Books as Everyday Urban Art-A City Where Citizens Create Picture Books Together," which was recognized for expanding citizen participation and making culture a part of daily life.
During the event, a variety of cultural programs were also held, including a cello performance by local youth who developed their talents through the "Dream Fulfillment Voucher," performances by local vocalists, and a special Jeongseon Arirang performance, all of which received enthusiastic responses from participants.
