Agency Issues Official Statement on “Medical Procedure from Nine Years Ago”
“Prescriptions Based on Diagnoses of Pharyngitis, Laryngitis, and Gastroesophageal Reflux”
Broadcaster Jun Hyunmoo has released his medical records in response to suspicions of an illegal intravenous drip procedure administered in a vehicle.
On December 23, Jun Hyunmoo’s agency, SM Culture & Contents, issued an official statement saying, “Since this concerns a medical procedure from nine years ago, the individual needed to visit the hospital in person to obtain the records.”
The agency disclosed copies of medical records issued on January 14, January 20, and January 26, 2016. The records include details such as the date and time of treatment, patient name, diagnosis, symptoms, hospital name, and other treatment-related information. Additionally, the agency attached official income and payment receipts from the medical institution for those dates. The agency explained, “It has been confirmed that the treatment was processed as an official medical expense following a formal consultation.”
Regarding suspicions about the disposal of medical waste, the agency stated, “After the intravenous treatment on January 20, 2016, the medical waste in question was returned during the follow-up hospital visit on January 26, as instructed by the medical staff in advance.” The agency further clarified that the treatment was based on diagnoses such as pharyngitis, laryngitis, and gastroesophageal reflux, and primarily involved antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and gastrointestinal medication, with the intravenous drip administered as a supplementary measure.
The agency added, “These documents demonstrate that Jun Hyunmoo’s medical care at the time was a legitimate extension of formal medical treatment carried out under the judgment of healthcare professionals at a medical institution.”
The agency emphasized that the recent allegations are not consistent with the facts. They added, “If any fact-checking procedures are conducted by relevant authorities in the future, we will faithfully submit the necessary documents and actively cooperate.”
Recently, in the entertainment industry, several celebrities-including Park Narae, SHINee’s Key, and EatzZzangHaetnim-have suspended their activities following controversy over receiving illegal medical services from an unlicensed individual known as “Injection Aunt” A. Amidst this, a scene from the 2016 MBC variety show “I Live Alone,” showing Jun Hyunmoo receiving an intravenous drip while traveling by car, resurfaced and sparked suspicions of illegal medical practice.
Previously, on December 19, Jun Hyunmoo’s agency issued an official statement explaining, “At the time, due to a poor throat condition, he received treatment following a consultation and prescription from the attending physician at the hospital.” The agency further stated, “The treatment was conducted within the hospital under the judgment and prescription of medical professionals,” and denied the allegations, saying, “There was no instance of personally calling medical staff or receiving any illegal procedures.”
