The Defense Special Investigation Headquarters will take over and begin investigating cases related to the December 3 Martial Law involving active-duty military personnel, which have been transferred from the National Investigation Headquarters of the police.
On December 23, Defense Ministry spokesperson Jeong Bitna announced at a regular briefing held at the Ministry of National Defense in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, "The Defense Special Investigation Headquarters will soon receive and begin investigating approximately 20 cases related to active-duty military personnel from the National Investigation Headquarters."
Spokesperson Jeong added, "We have been informed that there are about 20 cases and around 20 individuals involved. Of the 33 cases transferred from the Special Prosecutor for Rebellion to the National Investigation Headquarters, approximately 20 involve active-duty military personnel and others."
