Ansan to Provide 320,000 Won in Transportation Subsidies for Children and Adolescents Starting Next Year

On December 23, the city announced that it will implement the "Transportation Subsidy Program for Children and Adolescents" from January next year to ease the transportation cost burden and guarantee mobility rights for children and adolescents residing in Ansan.

To this end, the city enacted the "Ordinance on Transportation Subsidies for Children and Adolescents in Ansan" in July. The city is currently developing an electronic system to facilitate the subsidy program.

Initially, the city will prioritize transportation subsidies for low-income families, and gradually expand the scope of support depending on fiscal conditions. The primary beneficiaries are low-income children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 residing in the city.

The program will be operated in conjunction with the "Gyeonggi Province Transportation Subsidy Platform for Children and Adolescents." Once the annual maximum of 240,000 won provided by Gyeonggi Province is exhausted, the city will offer an additional subsidy of up to 80,000 won per year.

To apply, residents can request the Gyeonggi Province transportation subsidy through the "Gyeonggi Province Transportation Subsidy for Children and Adolescents" platform, and the city's additional subsidy will be automatically linked to the application. If applicants register and apply through the Gyeonggi Province platform, no further procedures are required to receive the additional support.

Lee Min-geun, Mayor of Ansan, stated, "We will gradually expand the scope of support so that children and adolescents can travel safely and conveniently without the burden of transportation costs."
