Financial Safety Guardian Award Ceremony
Commendations and Cash Rewards Presented to 10 Officers

The National Police Agency and the Korea Federation of Banks held the 'Financial Safety Guardian Award' ceremony on December 23 at the Eunhaengyeonhap Building in Jung-gu, Seoul, where they selected 10 police officers who contributed to the prevention and apprehension of telecommunications financial fraud, presenting them with commendations, plaques of appreciation, and cash rewards.

The ceremony was attended by Yoon Yongbyung, Chairman of the Korea Federation of Banks; Yoo Jaeseong, Acting Commissioner General of the National Police Agency; and Cho Suyeon, Director of Good Neighbors, among others. The 'Financial Safety Guardian Award,' newly established this year by the Korea Federation of Banks, recognizes 10 police officers who have contributed to eradicating telecommunications financial fraud. The award includes a commendation from the National Police Agency, a plaque of appreciation from the Korea Federation of Banks, and a cash reward of 3 million won per recipient.

The recipients were ultimately selected by external judges based on recommendations from provincial and metropolitan police agencies nationwide. Among the 10 awardees was Inspector Ko Ilhan, who, along with the others, was recognized for directly reducing public harm through crime analysis and preemptive intervention, on-site response, apprehension of organized criminals, and recovery of financial losses.

At the ceremony, Inspector Kim Taehan, speaking on behalf of the recipients, said, "I believe this award is not a personal achievement, but an honor received on behalf of all fellow police officers who have worked together on the front lines to combat voice phishing. I will continue to do my utmost to prevent harm to the public, based on strong cooperation with the financial sector."

Yoo Jaeseong, Acting Commissioner General of the National Police Agency, stated, "The Financial Safety Guardian Award, newly established by the Korea Federation of Banks this year, is a symbolic occasion that demonstrates the joint efforts of the financial sector and the National Police Agency to eradicate voice phishing. We will further strengthen our analysis and prevention systems, centered around the Integrated Response Team, to protect the everyday lives of the public."

Yoon Yongbyung, Chairman of the Korea Federation of Banks, said, "I would like to thank not only the ten individuals selected as Financial Safety Guardians, but also all police officers working tirelessly to eradicate voice phishing. I hope this award ceremony serves as an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation between financial institutions and investigative agencies."
