Innovating Non-Tax Revenue
Hamyang County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on December 23 that it was selected as an outstanding case in the "18th Korea Local Finance Awards 2025," hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and received the Minister's Award along with securing a special grant of 100 million won.
The "Korea Local Finance Awards," organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, is the most prestigious award in the field of finance, established in 2008. It is held annually to discover exemplary cases of financial management, such as expenditure reduction and revenue increase among local governments nationwide, with the goal of enhancing the efficiency and soundness of local finances.
In this year’s evaluation, Hamyang County presented a case titled "Hamyang County’s Specialized Service for Automotive Companies (E-Government-Based Innovative Model for Non-Tax Revenue)," which demonstrated sustainable self-generated revenue growth amid financial challenges.
This was highly regarded for suggesting ways for local governments to discover new sources of income while also leading to an increase in non-tax revenue.
A county official stated, "This achievement was made possible by the dedication of our staff, who work tirelessly to attract corporate civil petitions and increase non-tax revenue by more than 10 billion won each year. Moving forward, we will continue to do our best to strengthen fiscal soundness and pursue financial innovation by discovering new tax sources and expanding independent financial resources."
