Ideas Are Born in the Field... Busan Transportation Corporation Sweeps Busan City Contest Busan Transportation Corporation won all the awards at the Busan City Policy Idea Contest and is taking a commemorative photo.

This contest was established to discover municipal policy tasks that citizens can truly feel, by gathering policy proposals from employees of public institutions under Busan Metropolitan City.

A total of 503 ideas were submitted. Busan City conducted a three-stage selection process, including a preliminary review, expert evaluation, citizen review (online voting), and presentation review, ultimately selecting ten winners in the individual (team) category and three institutions for the institutional award.

Busan Transportation Corporation achieved the highest number of awards among all public institutions under Busan City, taking home a total of seven out of the ten individual (team) awards: one grand prize, one top excellence award, three excellence awards, and two encouragement awards. The winning proposals broadly addressed policy issues directly related to citizens’ daily lives, such as enhancing transportation safety, improving everyday convenience, revitalizing local tourism, and utilizing public spaces. They were highly rated for their feasibility and potential for policy expansion.

The grand prize-winning idea, “Adding Culture to Public Transportation: Transportation-Tourism Convergence Project,” was proposed by a team from the Public Transportation Promotion Task Force. Drawing on their experience operating the “Pok?mon Subway Stamp Rally in Busan: Ditto’s Summer Vacation,” which combined Busan Metro infrastructure with globally popular content IP, the team presented an innovative model for converging transportation, tourism, and culture.

This idea aims to develop Busan-style tourism products and strengthen the city’s economy and brand through public-private partnerships among IP holders, the transportation corporation, bus operators, and the tourism corporation. Key initiatives include launching an integrated pass that connects tourist attractions and transportation using IP, and offering interactive content within public transit.

Busan Transportation Corporation was also selected as the “Top Institution” in the institutional category, which comprehensively evaluates participation rates, review results, and award achievements by institution. This reflects the balanced success of both individual and organizational participation.

Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, stated, “This achievement is the result of our employees’ ongoing efforts to resolve citizen inconveniences and enhance convenience. We will continue to work as one team with Busan City, actively participating in policy implementation and creating changes that citizens can truly experience.”
