This book encapsulates the long-held truth that acting begins not with emotion, but with action.

The 'Thesaurus of Action Verbs for Actors and Directors' was overseen by Professor Kim Gyujin of Dong-Eui University, with contributions from Kim Junhyeong, CEO of Believe Acting Studio and a fellow public talent, as well as Director Park Wonguk, known for dramas such as 'Spring Fever' and 'Marry My Husband'. Over the past two years, they meticulously collected and organized countless action verbs to complete this book.

Action verbs define the true intentions behind words and movements-in other words, they articulate psychological actions. For example, even a simple greeting like "Hello" can be driven by intentions such as 'to seduce', 'to comfort', 'to provoke', or 'to pressure', all of which are actively at work in the mind.

This book carefully selects action verbs and comprehensively presents synonyms with similar meanings, enabling actors and directors to define these internal actions more easily and clearly. Notably, since its release, it has become a bestseller in the arts and popular culture category, receiving an enthusiastic response from readers.

Professor Kim Gyujin stated, "Action verbs are an essential concept in both acting and directing," adding, "I hope this book serves as a compass for actors, directors, teachers, and students as they explore the actions of characters."

Professor Kim Gyujin graduated from Seoul National University, earned a master's degree in acting from the Korea National University of Arts and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and obtained a doctorate in arts from Kyung Hee University.

With many years of experience as an actor and director, he has taught various acting techniques at universities in Korea, the United Kingdom, and China, and is currently dedicated to teaching and research as a professor in the Department of Film at Dong-Eui University.
