"2026 National Treasure Traveling Exhibition"
Uibyeong Museum Selected as Final Exhibition Venue
National treasures from the Lee Kun-hee Collection, donated to the state by the late Lee Kun-hee, former chairman of Samsung Group, will be exhibited in Uiryeong, the hometown of Samsung Group founder Lee Byung-chul.
The Uibyeong Museum in Uiryeong County announced on December 22 that it has been selected as the final exhibition venue for the “2026 National Treasure Traveling Exhibition,” organized by the National Museum of Korea.
This open call targeted 254 public museums nationwide. After the first round of screening, 18 museums were shortlisted, and through a final evaluation, 6 museums were selected as exhibition venues. The Uibyeong Museum passed the competitive review, being recognized for its exhibition planning capabilities and the excellence of its local cultural infrastructure.
Through this traveling exhibition, the Uibyeong Museum plans to hold a special exhibition in the first half of 2026 under the theme “Flowers Blooming on Ceramics: Inlaid Celadon.”
The exhibition will focus on the formative beauty and intricate patterns of Goryeo inlaid celadon, highlighting the beauty of nature embodied in ceramics and the artistic value of Korean ceramic culture.
Key artifacts on display will include the National Treasure “Celadon Inlaid Jar with Peony Design,” as well as other national treasure-level ceramics from the Lee Kun-hee Collection. The Lee Kun-hee Collection, donated to the state by the late Lee Kun-hee, holds special significance as these national treasures are being exhibited in the hometown of Samsung Group’s founder, Lee Byung-chul.
The entire budget for this traveling exhibition will be covered by national funds, with a total project cost of 160 million won.
Through this exhibition, the Uibyeong Museum aims to provide local residents with the opportunity to experience national treasures and national treasure-level cultural assets firsthand, and to share the value of these representative cultural heritages with the local community.
