Recognized for Win-Win Cooperation Achievements
Securing a Special Grant of 80 Million Won
Miryang City was awarded the Excellence Prize in the “Best Practices of Regional Revitalization Win-Win Sisterhood Agreements” contest organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing a special grant of 80 million won.
The Regional Revitalization Win-Win Sisterhood Agreement is a government policy aimed at revitalizing local economies by encouraging local governments, central ministries, public institutions, and private companies to enter into sisterhood agreements. Through these agreements, participants engage in mutually beneficial consumption activities such as purchasing local specialties, promoting tourism exchanges, and making hometown donations in the partner regions.

This best practices contest was held for 141 local governments nationwide that have signed sisterhood agreements, and 10 of these municipalities were selected as outstanding cases.
To systematically implement the Regional Revitalization Win-Win Sisterhood Agreement, Miryang City has assigned dedicated personnel and established both internal and external cooperation systems.
Starting with an agreement with the Local Finance and Economy Office of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Miryang City has signed additional sisterhood agreements with the Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters of the Small Enterprise and Market Service, the Game Rating and Administration Committee, the Korea Institute of Materials Science, K-Water Technology, and the Korea Asset Management Corporation. An additional agreement with the Korea Conformity Laboratories is also scheduled within the year.
This year, Miryang City carried out various collaborative projects with its sister organizations. Major initiatives included operating a win-win sales exhibition for the Gyeongnam Regional Small Business Cooperative Association in connection with the Miryangdae Festa, hosting a win-win cooperation meeting during the visit of the Local Finance and Economy Office, receiving a win-win donation from the Korea Asset Management Corporation, and receiving a scholarship fund donation from K-Water Technology for the Miryang Citizens Scholarship Foundation. The mutual benefits and sustainability of these projects among the partner organizations received high marks, leading to Miryang City’s selection as an outstanding case.
Next year, Miryang City plans to continue implementing practical projects, such as expanding experiential programs that leverage local strengths, offering discounts on public facility admission fees, and organizing expert lectures.
Mayor Ahn Byunggu stated, “This award is the result of genuine exchange and cooperation, going beyond mere formal agreements. By upholding the purpose of the Regional Revitalization Win-Win Sisterhood Agreement, we will share programs and expand exchanges in areas such as education and tourism, so that the relationship between central and local governments develops into a sustainable partnership rather than a one-time event. This will contribute to revitalizing the local economy and increasing the number of people with ties to the region.”
