This commendation is awarded to outstanding institutions and organizations that have contributed to improving the 'Management of Pollutant Emission Facilities' indicator, a government joint evaluation metric overseen by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment. The evaluation is based on the implementation of the national policy task, 'Creating a Pleasant Environment for All.'

Gwangju City conducted comprehensive guidance and inspections of 1,728 air and wastewater emission facilities to reduce air pollutant emissions and ensure safe management of water sources. As a result, the city achieved the highest S grade for this indicator in both 2024 and 2025, marking two consecutive years at the top level.

Additionally, by actively promoting the maintenance support project for air pollution prevention facilities-a key initiative of Gyeonggi Province-Gwangju City secured the largest share with 46 out of the province's total 123 projects scheduled for 2026, and was selected as an outstanding city in the 'Management of Pollutant Emission Facilities' category.

Starting next year, the city plans to introduce advanced equipment such as drones and portable odor meters to establish a smart and intelligent emission facility management system, conducting guidance and inspections for over 1,500 emission facilities in the region.

Mayor Bang Sehwan stated, "By investing a total project budget of 600 million won to support the installation of IoT measuring devices and provide financial and technical assistance for the maintenance of air emission facilities, we will do our utmost to ensure a pleasant environment where citizens can live with peace of mind."
