Expanding AI and Engineering Collaboration
Building a Chinese Alumni Network
Dongmyung University is accelerating its entry into the Chinese international student market by strengthening cooperation with universities in the Dalian region of China, following its recent inclusion in the QS World University Rankings and Asia Rankings.
President Lee Sangcheon and the university leadership recently visited the Dalian region, where they sequentially met with Dalian Polytechnic University, Liaoning Mechanical and Electrical Vocational Technical College, and Dalian Ocean University to sign agreements aimed at expanding international exchanges and boosting the recruitment of international students.
This visit was carried out with the goal of establishing a practical foundation for educational and research cooperation, as well as enhancing the university’s global competitiveness.
With Dalian Polytechnic University, the discussions focused on multifaceted cooperation, including joint research in the fields of AI and computer engineering, co-hosting international academic conferences, and running capstone design programs through student exchanges. They also agreed to cooperate across education and research by dispatching faculty members and promoting master’s and doctoral programs.
President Lee Sangcheon is personally engaging in activities to attract international students by visiting China, continuing proactive efforts to strengthen the university’s global capabilities. He stated, “By actively targeting the Chinese study abroad market, we are raising Dongmyung University’s status as a global institution and laying the foundation for becoming a prestigious global university by attracting outstanding Chinese students.”
After completing their exchange schedule with universities in the Dalian region, the university leadership plans to move on to Beijing to establish an alumni association for Chinese graduates of Dongmyung University. The alumni association is expected to serve as a practical global cooperation hub by systematizing the alumni network active in various regions of China, supporting student recruitment, university-industry cooperation, and local employment and entrepreneurship.
Dongmyung University is linking this visit to China with the global sector of the RISE (Regional Innovation System for Education) project. The university plans not only to recruit international students, but also to nurture outstanding foreign students into regional talent, thereby building a global university-industry cooperation model that grows together with the local community.
Dongmyung University is continuously signing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with universities in the Dalian region of China.
