Daegu Regional Veterans Office Selects 12 "2026 Memorial Facilities of the Month"

Promoting Historical and Patriotic Values Through Monthly Campaigns

The Daegu Regional Veterans Office of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (headed by Kim Jongsul) held the selection committee for the "2026 Memorial Facility of the Month" at the Daegu Government Complex on December 18 and selected 12 facilities.

This committee was established to systematically promote meaningful local memorial facilities each month throughout 2026. Representatives from relevant organizations, including the Gyeongbuk Patriots and Veterans Foundation, the Liberation Association, and Daegu Metropolitan City, participated in the meeting. They selected a total of 12 memorial facilities, deciding to promote one facility per month alongside related publicity efforts.

The selected memorial facilities are as follows: ▲ January - National Debt Repayment Movement Monument; ▲ February - Birthplace of Teacher Lee Seunghee; ▲ March - Indong 3·12 Independence Movement Commemorative Tower; ▲ April - Seokju Lee Sangryong National Salvation Movement Monument; ▲ May - Statue of Ugwang Song Jongik; ▲ June - Nakdong River Victory Memorial Hall; ▲ July - Waegwan District Victory Monument; ▲ August - Statue of Park Heegwang; ▲ September - Gyeongsan City Memorial Park; ▲ October - Daegu Police Fallen Heroes Memorial; ▲ November - Martyr Jang Jinhong Memorial Monument; ▲ December - Anti-Japanese Patriots Hill.

The Daegu Regional Veterans Office plans to enhance accessibility for local residents and strengthen the role of these memorial facilities as venues for historical education by promoting them both online and offline and by implementing related programs.

A representative from the Daegu Regional Veterans Office stated, "Memorial facilities are valuable sites for historical education in our region," and added, "We hope that many citizens will visit these facilities and naturally reflect on the meaning of liberation and the spirit of patriotism."
