On December 18, Sohu.com reported, "The teacher has provoked public outrage by hurling unspeakable curses and abusive language in a group chat," adding, "Chinese authorities have suspended the teacher from their position and launched an investigation."

A screenshot of the group chat, which included about 100 people, was posted on Chinese social media. The music teacher at the elementary school shared a photo of children during class and wrote, "My eardrums are about to burst," and, "I wish they would all just get the flu (H1N1 influenza) and just XX off."

The teacher further fueled anger by stating, "The classroom is complete chaos," and, "It has nothing to do with me. As long as my salary is paid on time, that's enough." When a member of the group chat commented, "Report (this teacher) immediately," the teacher responded, "You wouldn't say that if you hadn't done this job yourself."

As the controversy spread, the education authorities responded immediately. An official from the Ministry of Education stated, "The teacher has been suspended and an investigation is underway," adding, "We will take strict action based on the results of the investigation."

Online users strongly criticized the teacher with comments such as, "How can a teacher who teaches children behave like this?" "Unqualified teacher," and "They should be severely punished."
