"OpenAI Seeks New Investment at $750 Billion Valuation"

Company Valuation Jumps 1.5 Times in Just Two Months

OpenAI is seeking to raise new funds at a company valuation of 750 billion dollars, according to a report by the U.S. information technology (IT) media outlet The Information on December 17 (local time).

OpenAI was previously valued at 500 billion dollars during a secondary share sale in October, meaning the company is now aiming to attract new investment at a valuation 1.5 times higher in just two months. Sources say that OpenAI could raise up to 100 billion dollars in new investment, but discussions are still in the early stages and nothing has been finalized yet.

It is still unclear who will participate in this round of fundraising, but as negotiations are reportedly underway for Amazon to invest more than 10 billion dollars in OpenAI, it is highly likely that Amazon will emerge as a key investor. Additionally, SoftBank, led by Chairman Masayoshi Son, which recently demonstrated its commitment to investing in OpenAI by selling Nvidia shares, may also make an additional investment.

OpenAI’s move to secure external funding appears to be influenced by competition in artificial intelligence (AI) development with companies such as Google. After Google released Gemini 3 Pro and other models, OpenAI declared a “code red” internally and has been focusing on improving its AI models.

Industry insiders believe that if OpenAI goes public, it could be valued at 1 trillion dollars. However, OpenAI Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar stated in early November that the company currently has no plans for an initial public offering (IPO).
