Kimjeon Foundation Donates 100 Million Won to Dong-A University Development Fund

Scholarship Foundation Established by Korea Cast Iron Pipe Industry
Cumulative Donations Reach 300 Million Won

Dong-A University has received a school development fund donation of 100 million won from the Kimjeon Foundation, which is operated with contributions from Korea Cast Iron Pipe Industry Co., Ltd., the largest water supply company in Korea.

With this donation, the Kimjeon Foundation’s cumulative contributions to Dong-A University now total 300 million won. Previously, the foundation donated 150 million won in research funds to the university’s Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation in 2014 and 50 million won in scholarships to the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in 2024.

The donation ceremony was held on December 12 in the president’s office at Dong-A University’s Seunghak Campus, attended by Lee Haewoo, President of Dong-A University; Jeong Okgang, Chairman of the Kimjeon Foundation; Kim Taehyung, CEO of Korea Cast Iron Pipe Industry Co., Ltd.; and Kim Kyungmi, Secretary General of the Kimjeon Foundation.

The Kimjeon Foundation is a scholarship foundation established in 1976 to honor the legacy of the founder of Korea Cast Iron Pipe Industry Co., Ltd. The foundation has consistently supported various educational and research initiatives, including scholarships for outstanding students with character and talent, support for environmental fields, and research funding for the advancement of pure and basic sciences.

Chairman Jeong Okgang said, "I hope this donation will help nurture talent in the fields of computer science and AI. In particular, I hope it can provide real support for students who are facing difficult circumstances that are not easily visible to others."

President Lee Haewoo stated, "The ongoing interest and trust from the company and the foundation are a great driving force for the university’s development. We will do our utmost to strengthen our competitiveness in education and research so that our donors can feel an even greater sense of fulfillment."
