Yongsan-gu to Reopen Yongsan Health Branch Clinic on December 22... Strengthening Mental Health Services

Onmaeum Forest Center and Cognitive Health Room Newly Established
Opening Ceremony to Be Held on December 19

Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young), has completed seven months of remodeling and will officially reopen the Yongsan-gu Health Branch Clinic starting on December 22.

The opening ceremony for the Health Branch Clinic, Onmaeum Forest Center, and Mental Health Welfare Center will be held on December 19. The remodeling project began in May, with a total investment of 2.7 billion won (92% from the district, 8% from the city) for a facility covering 2,378.37 square meters.

The remodeling focused on improving outdated facilities, eliminating risk factors, and expanding service areas. Sprinklers were newly installed on all floors (1st to 6th floors above ground), significantly enhancing fire safety performance. These measures were implemented to ensure the safety of vulnerable groups, including the elderly and people with disabilities.

The layout of each floor was also reorganized. The first floor now houses the health civil affairs office, primary care clinic, radiology room, and chronic disease management room. The second floor features a rehabilitation physical therapy room, Korean medicine clinic, cognitive health room, and nursing room. The third floor is home to the Onmaeum Forest Center and the Mental Health Welfare Center.

Notably, the newly established "Cognitive Health Room" on the second floor enables early dementia screening without the need to visit the main health center, and a new nursing room has been created for mothers and infants.

The most noteworthy aspect is the strengthened mental health care function. The Onmaeum Forest Center, an open space where anyone can visit freely at any time, is being introduced for the first time alongside the expanded and relocated Mental Health Welfare Center on the third floor. The district plans to ensure that both residents experiencing mental difficulties and those seeking psychological counseling can easily access mental health services in their daily lives.

The facilities, including the health civil affairs office, will operate on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., while the Korean medicine clinic on the second floor will be open twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, stated, "Through the renovation and functional improvements of the Health Branch Clinic, we have established an integrated health care service infrastructure that addresses not only the physical health but also the mental well-being of our residents. We will continue to provide warm and supportive health administration that strengthens the daily lives of our community members."
