This event was organized to remind employees of the importance of anti-corruption and integrity, which can become lax during the year-end and New Year period-a time considered vulnerable to corruption-and to reaffirm the commitment of public officials to prevent conflicts of interest.
The event was jointly conducted by five institutions that are members of "Integrity Wave," an ethics management council of public organizations based in Busan.
Integrity Wave includes Busan Port Authority, Korea Southern Power, Korea Asset Management Corporation, Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation, and Korea Fisheries Resources Agency. On this day, each institution carried out a campaign targeting their executives and employees during the morning commute.
Participants distributed integrity leaflets containing key information on the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act and the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act to employees arriving at work. They also handed out cookies and hot packs with the phrase "Conflict of Interest Free," sharing the importance of practicing integrity.
Song Sangkeun, President of Busan Port Authority, stated, "Integrity is the highest value for maintaining public trust," and added, "We will continue to strive for fair work practices and the spread of conflict of interest prevention awareness that meet public expectations."
