Doosan Selected as Preferred Bidder for Acquisition of SK Siltron

Doosan to Acquire 70.6% Stake; Deal Expected to Reach Trillions of Won
Synergy Anticipated with Doosan Tesna, a Post-Processing Semiconductor Testing Company

Doosan will acquire SK Siltron, the world's third-largest semiconductor wafer manufacturer. Since joining the acquisition race in October, private equity firms and other candidates had emerged, but Doosan has now been selected as the preferred bidder.

On December 17, Doosan and SK announced in a public disclosure that Doosan had been chosen as the preferred bidder for the sale of SK Siltron shares. Doosan stated that it is reviewing the acquisition and holding discussions with the parties involved. The stake up for sale is known to be 70.6% of SK Siltron shares held by SK.

SK Siltron, a specialized semiconductor wafer manufacturer, holds the third-largest share in the global market for 12-inch wafers.

Doosan's acquisition of SK Siltron is seen as aligning with the group's new growth strategy. Doosan has reportedly identified semiconductors, along with small modular reactors (SMRs) and robotics/artificial intelligence (AI), as future growth pillars. In 2022, Doosan expanded its semiconductor business by acquiring post-processing testing company Tesna for 460 billion won.

SK Group has been pursuing the sale of SK Siltron as part of its portfolio restructuring and rebalancing efforts.
