Gyeonggi Institute Confirms Relocation to Unjeong New City, Paju
Move-in Preparations to Begin in January Next Year
Key Departments Expected to Relocate in the First Half of the Year
Newly Constructed Building in Dongpae-dong Near GTX-A Selected
The relocation of the Gyeonggi Institute of Economic Science and Technology (hereafter referred to as "Gyeonggi Institute") to Paju is expected to accelerate soon.
Paju City announced that Gyeonggi Institute completed a preliminary contract for leasing office space in Unjeong New City on December 17.
According to the city, since the beginning of this year, Gyeonggi Institute has conducted a comprehensive review and on-site visits of several relocation candidates recommended by Paju City, considering factors such as accessibility, work efficiency, and working environment. As a result, it ultimately selected a newly constructed building in Dongpae-dong as its new location.
Paju City and Gyeonggi Institute both agree that the Dongpae-dong area, where Gyeonggi Institute will be located, has seen improved transportation accessibility since the opening of the GTX-A line at the end of last year. The area is also adjacent to major industrial complexes in Paju, including the Munbal Industrial Complex. Furthermore, the institute's business support functions are expected to be further strengthened through future connections with the Paju Medical Cluster.
With the signing of this lease agreement, Gyeonggi Institute plans to begin full-scale preparations for moving in, such as setting up the interior space, starting around January next year after the building's completion. The institute aims to complete the relocation of key departments, including the head of the organization, within the first half of next year.
Paju Mayor Kim Kyungil emphasized, "The relocation of Gyeonggi Institute to Paju will be an important first step toward achieving balanced regional development. Paju City will focus its administrative capabilities and work closely with Gyeonggi Province and Gyeonggi Institute to ensure the smooth progress of the relocation."
Gyeonggi Institute plans to move in sequentially until the first half of 2026. In addition, with the relocation of key departments, including the director, the new construction and relocation of the institute are expected to gain further momentum.
