Busan Urban Corporation Wins Prime Minister's Award at 'Korea Housing Welfare Expo'

Recognized for Achievements in Strengthening Customized Public Rental Housing Supply and Housing Welfare Services

Busan Urban Corporation (BMC, President Shin Changho) announced on the 17th that it received the Prime Minister's Award in the housing welfare merit category at the '2025 Korea Housing Welfare Expo' hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Busan Urban Corporation was highly recognized at this awards ceremony for its contribution to stabilizing housing for Busan citizens through the provision of customized public rental housing and systematic implementation of housing welfare projects. In particular, the following were highlighted as exemplary cases: strengthening and stable operation of customized public rental housing supply; systematic welfare projects based on the Housing Welfare Service Index; and on-site, tailored care services to improve the quality of life for public rental housing residents.

The corporation has strengthened its housing support system by supplying public rental housing to a diverse range of groups, including vulnerable populations, university students, and newlyweds. This year, for the first time in the Busan region, it supplied integrated public rental housing, and it is also working to enhance the management system for approximately 20,000 public rental housing units currently in operation.

Every year, based on the results of the 'Housing Welfare Service Index,' the corporation identifies customized welfare projects and has received positive feedback for its contributions to improving housing satisfaction for vulnerable groups. In May, it became the first urban corporation nationwide to hire a housing welfare officer, providing on-site, tailored care services for vulnerable groups such as the elderly living alone in the Dadae 4 District, and is working to address welfare blind spots through community collaboration.

Shin Changho, President of Busan Urban Corporation, said, "I am delighted that our efforts to ensure the stable supply of various types of public rental housing-including permanent, happiness, and integrated units-and to implement systematic housing welfare projects have been recognized with this award. We will continue to be a trusted public enterprise by providing citizen-oriented housing supply and life-centered housing welfare services."

The '2025 Korea Housing Welfare Expo' is an event hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, where local governments, public institutions, academia, and experts participate to share the year's housing welfare achievements and recognize organizations and institutions that have contributed to its development. This year's event was held on the 17th at the aT Center in Yangjae, Seoul.
