The stock price of Innospace, a space launch vehicle company, surged by around 10% during the morning session on December 17. This strong performance is attributed to heightened expectations ahead of the company's first commercial launch attempt as a domestic private space launch vehicle, scheduled for the early hours of the following day.
As of 10:32 a.m. on this day, Innospace was trading at 12,590 won per share, up 10.05% from the previous session. Innospace had recorded four consecutive days of gains since December 10, took a brief pause with a decline the previous day, and is showing renewed strength from the start of trading today.
This surge is interpreted as a result of anticipation for the scheduled launch of the "Hanbit-Nano" launch vehicle at Brazil's Alcantara Space Center at 3:45 a.m. on December 18 (3:45 p.m. local time on December 17). This launch is significant as it marks the first attempt by a domestic private company to deploy a customer satellite into low Earth orbit. Hanbit-Nano is a two-stage space launch vehicle, 21.8 meters long and 1.4 meters in diameter, capable of delivering a 90 kg payload into a 500 km sun-synchronous orbit.
Through this launch, Innospace aims to carry a total of eight payloads: five small satellites intended for orbital insertion for Brazil and India at an altitude of 300 km, along with three non-separating experimental devices. The total payload weight is 18 kg. The launch process will be broadcast live on YouTube.
