Is the War Over Caregiving Costs Finally Ending?... Daedong Hospital Selected as National "Panel"

Will there finally be an escape from the so-called "caregiving hell" that completely upends families' lives?

A hospital with the deepest understanding of the realities and limitations of the integrated nursing care service has been chosen.

Daedong Hospital (Director Lee Gwangjae) was recently selected by the National Health Insurance Service (President Chung Ki-seok) as a second-term panel hospital for improving the integrated nursing care service system, following its selection in the first term.

A panel hospital is a sample group of medical institutions that operate integrated nursing care services as exemplary models. These hospitals are surveyed regarding their ward environments and staffing arrangements, and their on-site feedback is used as foundational data for system improvement and policy development.

In October, the National Health Insurance Service selected panel hospitals among institutions where more than 50% of designated ward beds operate as integrated nursing care service wards and have been running for at least one year. The selection process comprehensively considered factors such as type of institution, staffing arrangements, bed capacity, and regional characteristics, focusing on those with exemplary ward management.

As a result, a total of 36 medical institutions were chosen, including 10 tertiary general hospitals, 16 general hospitals, 4 hospitals, and 6 institutions operating integrated rehabilitation wards.

The second-term panel hospitals will play a key role in enhancing the quality of integrated nursing care services and improving the system by attending regular meetings and participating in system-related surveys over a two-year period from 2026 to 2027.

Jung Mijin, Head Nurse at Daedong Hospital, stated, "Being selected as a panel hospital for two consecutive terms is the result of our continuous efforts to prioritize patient safety and provide high-quality medical services. It is also a renewed recognition of Daedong Hospital's capabilities in operating integrated nursing care services. Based on our operational experience, we will actively present practical, field-oriented opinions and participate in system improvements to contribute to the enhancement of medical service quality."

Daedong Hospital continues to demonstrate excellence in operating integrated nursing care services, having received the highest S grade in the 2024 Integrated Nursing Care Service Performance Evaluation conducted by the National Health Insurance Service.
