"Golden" from "K-Pop Demon Hunters" shortlisted for Best Original Song
"No Other Choice," directed by Park Chan-wook, has been shortlisted for the Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced on December 16 (local time) the shortlist of fifteen films for the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards. The selection was made after reviewing submissions from eighty-six countries and regions.
"No Other Choice" stands alongside acclaimed works such as "National Treasure" (Japan) directed by Lee Sang-il, a hit among Korean-Japanese filmmakers; "Only an Accident" (France) by Jafar Panahi; and "The Voice of Hind Rajab" (Tunisia), which depicts the tragedy of a girl in the Gaza Strip.
Previously, this film was also nominated in three categories at the Golden Globe Awards: Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, Best Foreign Language Film, and Best Actor (Lee Byung-hun). At the Critics Choice Awards, presented by North American film critics and journalists, it is nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Foreign Language Film.
The soundtrack "Golden" from the Netflix animation "K-Pop Demon Hunters" has been shortlisted for the Oscar for Best Original Song. It will compete against "The Girl in the Bubble" and "No Place Like Home" from "Wicked: For Good," as well as "Dream as One" from "Avatar: The Last Airbender." "K-Pop Demon Hunters" is also nominated for the Golden Globe Awards in the categories of Best Animated Feature, Best Original Song, and Box Office Achievement.
On the shortlist announced that day, both "Sinners" and "Wicked: For Good" were nominated in eight categories each, raising the possibility of multiple Academy Awards. The final nominees will be announced on January 22 next year, and the awards ceremony will be held on March 15.
