Lectures by Admissions Experts from EBS and Jongro Academy
Strategies for Adapting to the High School Credit System and College Admission Reforms
Gijang County will hold a college admission information session for students and parents in response to the changing university entrance system.
Gijang County (Governor Jeong Jongbok) will host the "2027 College Admission Information Session" for local students and parents on December 17 at the Sodu-bang Children's Theater in Jeonggwan Library.
This information session aims to provide students and parents with the most reliable and up-to-date information on college admissions amid the rapidly changing environment, and to strengthen the region’s educational competitiveness. It is part of the "One-on-One Customized Career and College Consulting Support Project," which is being carried out in collaboration with Jongro Academy, a leading admissions education institution.
The session will feature lectures by Jeong Dongwan, the lead admissions counselor at EBS and an external panelist at Jongro Academy Admissions Research Institute, as well as Hwang Gwanghee, head of the Self-Directed Learning Center for the Special Education District Project. They will present practical strategies for preparing for college admissions, covering topics such as "Maximizing the High School Credit System for Admissions Strategy" and "Effective Study Methods During School Breaks."
The program is designed to be immediately applicable, reflecting recent changes in the education environment, such as the 2028 college admission reform discussions and shifts in the CSAT and student record evaluation methods. It will cover strategies for student record-based admissions, a roadmap for regular admissions, analysis of changes in university-specific admissions processes, customized strategies for each grade band, and the latest admissions information that local students must know.
Additionally, topics of high interest to parents, such as projections for internal grade competition rates, changes in department preferences, key preparation points for each CSAT subject, and university-specific exam preparation methods, will be explained with concrete examples.
Gijang County expects that, since the most significant challenges for students and parents are the lack of accurate admissions information and the absence of strategies tailored to their academic performance, this information session will provide local students with access to professional admissions information comparable to that available in the Seoul metropolitan area. The event is also expected to offer practical help through strategies tailored to different academic levels, analysis of the local college admissions environment, and guidance on personalized career planning for students.
Registration is available through the Gijang County career and college admissions website until December 17, and participation is limited to the first 140 applicants. Further details can be found on the same website.
Governor Jeong Jongbok of Gijang County stated, "I hope this information session will provide practical help to students and parents in setting their academic and career paths," adding, "We will continue to support efforts to close the information gap with the Seoul metropolitan area and enhance the competitiveness of local students in line with the rapidly changing educational environment."
Since March, Gijang County has been operating one-on-one customized career and college consulting for local students from the third year of middle school to the third year of high school, as well as for CSAT examinees, in partnership with Jongro Academy. The third round of consulting applications is currently open.
