The Gyeonggi Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters is partnering with the Gyeonggi Senior Club Association to launch a cooperative project that will assign elderly workers free of charge to fill staffing shortages at fire stations throughout the province.
This agreement was designed to establish a 'win-win cooperation model' that both improves the working environment and welfare of fire department employees and promotes mutual growth with the local community by creating jobs for the elderly.
In particular, by assigning elderly workers to fire stations struggling with staff shortages due to difficulties in hiring full-time employees, the fire department can increase administrative efficiency and reduce financial burdens, while seniors gain stable opportunities for social participation.

The Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters plans to have seniors perform support roles tailored to the conditions and characteristics of each fire station, such as assisting with guidance at experience centers, cleaning shared spaces, and helping with meal preparation.
Additionally, the headquarters will analyze the results of job operations each year to gradually expand the types of positions and the number of assignments, aiming to establish a virtuous cycle where improvements to the fire department’s working environment and the creation of jobs for the elderly continue together.
Choi Yongcheol, Acting Chief of the Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "This agreement will allow necessary personnel to indirectly support the field activities of fire department staff, enabling us to provide better fire services to residents. We will continue to do our best to improve the fire service environment through ongoing cooperation."
