The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on December 16 that it had invited Kim Hakseon, Commissioner of the Gwangju Regional Tax Office, to hold the "Business Tax Administration Meeting."

The meeting was attended by more than 30 participants, including Chairman Han Sangwon, the 25th members of the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, local businesspeople, Commissioner Kim Hakseon, and related officials. The event was organized to provide a platform for local companies to communicate the tax-related challenges they face in business operations and to share useful information about national tax administration, with the aim of creating a more business-friendly environment.

During the meeting, the Gwangju Regional Tax Office provided detailed guidance on tax administration support systems, key considerations for business management, and business succession support programs-practical tax information designed to help business leaders.

In the subsequent "Tax Administration Difficulties and Suggestions" session, local businesspeople voiced a wide range of concerns. Six key suggestions were made on site, including post-management of corporate inheritance tax deductions, raising the exemption criteria for interim corporate tax prepayments for small and medium-sized enterprises, and introducing ESG tax administration support programs for carbon-neutral companies. The National Tax Service responded with in-depth answers and promised active consideration of these proposals.

Chairman Han Sangwon stated, "With the recent combination of sluggish domestic demand and a slowdown in exports, about 70% of local manufacturing companies are expected to have difficulty achieving their operating profit targets this year." He added, "The biggest challenge, cited by 39.6% of companies, is 'corporate funding conditions.'"

He further emphasized, "Effective tax administration support from the National Tax Service is more essential than ever, so that companies can overcome the crisis and refocus on their core innovative growth."

Kim Hakseon, Commissioner of the Gwangju Regional Tax Office, said, "I am deeply grateful to the business community for faithfully fulfilling their tax obligations despite challenging circumstances," and added, "We will actively reflect your valuable suggestions in our tax administration operations and continue to cooperate and communicate to become a reliable partner for taxpayers."
