Yangpyeong County in Gyeonggi Province (Governor Jeon Jinseon) announced on the 16th that "Yangpyeong County to Open a New Chapter in Riverside Tourism with 'Namhangang Terrace'" was selected as the top story in the 'Top 10 News of Yangpyeong County in 2025'.
The selection of this year's 'Top 10 News' was conducted through online voting from the 8th to the 12th. A total of 4,697 people participated, showing high interest and engagement as they voted on 34 major news items. Based on the voting results, the county finalized the top 10 stories that received the most empathy and support from residents.
The selected top 10 news stories are as follows: 1st place, "Yangpyeong County to Open a New Chapter in Riverside Tourism with 'Namhangang Terrace'" (1,838 votes); 2nd place, "Yangpyeong County Connects Future Jobs and Lives... A Youth-Friendly City Chosen by Young People" (1,521 votes); 3rd place, "Yangpyeong's Funeral Culture: 96% Reduction in Waste by Introducing Stainless Steel Reusable Containers" (1,461 votes); 4th place, "Yangpyeong County Promotes the 'Yanggeuncheon Walkable River Project'" (1,434 votes); 5th place, "Yangsu-ri in Yangpyeong County Selected as the UN World Tourism Organization's 'Best Tourism Village 2025'" (1,240 votes); 6th place, "Dumulmeori in Yangpyeong County Selected for Korea's Top 100 Tourist Destinations for Seven Consecutive Years" (1,169 votes); 7th place, "Opening of the Seojong-Jamsil Metropolitan Bus Route... Addressing a Long-Standing Wish of Residents" (1,127 votes); 8th place, "Yangpyeong County Eases Traffic Inconvenience by Installing a Roundabout in Front of the Bus Terminal" (1,106 votes); 9th place, "Finally, an Industrial Complex in Yangpyeong... Yangdong General Industrial Complex Designated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport" (1,088 votes); and 10th place, "Successful Hosting of the Dumulmeori Music Festival... Pledging to Become a 'Premium Cultural City'" (1,079 votes).
The top-ranked 'Namhangang Terrace' is a signature riverside tourism space created as part of the urban regeneration project, 'Namhangang Riverside Special Street Development Project.' It spans approximately 1.1 kilometers along the Namhangang River, from Yanggeun Bridge to Yangpyeong Bridge in Yangpyeong-eup. The county has transformed the riverside into a complex cultural tourism destination by establishing pedestrian-friendly walking trails, cultural and artistic themed streets, and waterfront and relaxation areas.
The results of this year's Top 10 News reflect a well-balanced representation of the county's achievements in tourism, environment, transportation, industry, and youth policies. Many policies with high public awareness were included, making the list a valuable indicator for the future direction of county administration.
