The "Corporate SOS Operation Evaluation" is a system in which Gyeonggi Province comprehensively evaluates the performance of the Corporate SOS operations of 31 cities and counties in the province over the course of a year and selects the top-performing municipalities. The evaluation is based on a variety of quantitative and qualitative indicators, including interest in corporate difficulties, performance in resolving corporate issues, achievements in regulatory improvement, promotional results, and the implementation of policies to create a business-friendly environment.
Since enacting the "Ordinance on Corporate SOS Operation in Gwangju City" in 2008, Gwangju City has consistently established a field-oriented support system for businesses. Including this year’s award, the city has been recognized a total of 16 times by 2025, further solidifying its reputation as a business-friendly city.
In particular, this year, the city actively operated various communication and reporting channels to quickly identify and resolve difficulties experienced by companies on-site. These included a mobile corporate consultation center, on-site visits by institutional heads, meetings with businesspeople, an on-site task force, and integrated resolution meetings. As a result, the city conducted a total of 274 on-site consultations, 32 company visits, and 31 business meetings, significantly expanding direct engagement with local businesses.
Additionally, Mayor Bang Sehwan personally visited business sites every month, listening to the concerns of 53 companies over 12 visits and seeking immediate solutions on-site, thereby actively reflecting the voices of businesses in city administration.
Furthermore, the city has not only focused on resolving difficulties but has also steadily promoted various support programs for businesses, such as financial assistance, improvements to working conditions and the environment, and support for sales channels and marketing, thereby striving for the continuous improvement of the business environment.
A city official stated, "Proactively resolving inconveniences faced by businesses on the ground is the most effective way to enhance the competitiveness of the local economy," adding, "We will continue to improve unreasonable regulations and discover practical support policies that businesses can truly feel, making Gwangju a city where it is easy to do business."
