Public Officials Federation Proposes Establishment of Permanent Committee within Economic, Social and Labor Council

The Public Officials Labor Union Federation (Public Officials Federation) has proposed the establishment of a permanent committee within the Economic, Social and Labor Council to address issues related to labor-management relations in the public sector.


On the 15th, the Public Officials Federation held a policy meeting in the main conference room of the Economic, Social and Labor Council and emphasized the need for a continuous social dialogue body to resolve current issues in the public service sector, according to an announcement on the 16th. The meeting was attended by Shin Donggeun, Chairman of the Public Officials Federation, the sixth executive board, and the heads of affiliated labor unions.

Chairman Shin Donggeun met with Kim Jihyung, the newly appointed Chairman of the Economic, Social and Labor Council, to congratulate him on his inauguration and proposed the establishment of a permanent "Public Officials Labor-Management Relations Committee," stressing that ongoing social dialogue is necessary to seek practical solutions to issues in the public sector.


Chairman Shin stated, "The Public Officials Federation has actively participated in the activities of the Economic, Social and Labor Council, achieving results such as the legalization of the 'public officials' time-off system.' He emphasized the need for a continuous dialogue body to address current issues in the public sector, such as restoring the basic political rights of public officials, guaranteeing retirement at age 65 without income gaps, and legalizing the Public Officials Remuneration Committee."


Chairman Kim Jihyung responded, "I agree that continuous social dialogue is important for resolving current issues in the public sector, including guaranteeing the basic political rights of public officials," and promised to review the proposal to establish a permanent Public Officials Labor-Management Relations Committee within the Economic, Social and Labor Council. He also expressed gratitude for the active role the Public Officials Federation has played in the previous Public Officials Labor-Management Relations Committee and the Public Officials Time-Off Review Committee.


Meanwhile, after the meeting, the Public Officials Federation presented sneakers to the Chairman of the Economic, Social and Labor Council as a gesture encouraging him to listen to public sector issues and to actively engage in social dialogue to build public consensus.
