On December 15, CGV announced that the film 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' will be screened in 3D across all special format theaters, including SCREENX, 4DX, ULTRA 4DX, IMAX, and Dolby Atmos.
According to CGV, when the previous installment 'Avatar: The Way of Water' was released, over 60% of CGV moviegoers chose special format theaters featuring 3D. The seat occupancy rates for major special formats such as 4DX and IMAX were more than twice as high as those for standard theaters, and the occupancy rates for 4DX and ULTRA 4DX exceeded 60%.
The SCREENX 3D version of 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' will be shown at 10 SCREENX theaters nationwide, including CGV Yongsan SCREENX, Wangsimni, and Hongdae. The 4DX 3D version will be available at 30 4DX theaters nationwide, including CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall, Wangsimni, Yeongdeungpo, and Cheongdam Cine City.
The ULTRA 4DX 3D version, which combines 4DX and SCREENX, will be screened at 9 ULTRA 4DX theaters across the country, while the MAX 3D version will be available at 26 IMAX theaters nationwide.
Jeon Jeonghyeon, Head of Content Operations at CGV, stated, "The 'Avatar' series is a prime example of films that showcase the unique features of special format theaters," adding, "Comparing the differences between various formats can be a unique way to experience the movie."
Meanwhile, on December 17, the global premiere date of 'Avatar: Fire and Ash,' CGV will hold a free SCREENX screening for audiences selected through advance applications, starting at 8 a.m.
