In his congratulatory remarks, Chairman Jo Sungdae said, "I would like to express my deep gratitude to the members who have worked so hard this year to protect the clean water that 26 million residents of the metropolitan area drink through the Hangang cleanup activities."

He went on to say, "This year marks the 50th anniversary of the designation of the water source protection zone.
