A forum addressing information security issues in the growing stablecoin market will be held.
On December 12, Samjong KPMG announced that it will host a forum titled "Activation of the Stablecoin Market and Information Security Challenges" at the National Assembly Members' Office Building on December 15. The event is organized by Assemblyman Min Byungdeok of the Democratic Party of Korea and co-hosted by Samjong KPMG and the law firm Lin.
Experts from Samjong KPMG and Lin will participate in the forum to discuss institutional and technological measures for expanding the stablecoin ecosystem, as well as information security strategies required in a blockchain environment. In particular, the forum will propose practical policy and industry alternatives from various perspectives, including payment and settlement innovation, regulatory framework design, and responses to security risks.
The first session will feature Hwang Taeyoung, Executive Director at Samjong KPMG, presenting on "Challenges and Solutions for the Practical Use of Stablecoins," outlining the institutional development and future direction of stablecoins. This will be followed by a presentation from Ko Dongwon, a U.S. attorney at Lin, on "Building a Regulatory Framework for the Stablecoin Market."
Subsequent presentations will include: "Paradigm Shift in Payment and Settlement and Rationalizing Regulation of KRW Stablecoins" by Park Sunyoung, attorney at Lin, and "Regulatory Paradigm Shift for Restoring Digital Financial Sovereignty" by Kang Wonmo, U.S. attorney at Lin.
In the security field, Shin Kwangkeun, Executive Director at Samjong KPMG, will present "IT Infrastructure Information Security Strategies in a Blockchain Environment," addressing information security risks, including technical vulnerabilities that may arise in the blockchain ecosystem, and strategies for building corresponding security architecture and management processes. Finally, Chun Heeseung, attorney at Lin, will introduce "Building a Regulatory Framework for Information Security in the Blockchain Industry." A comprehensive panel discussion among the presenters will follow.
Kim Jingui, Head of Consulting at Samjong KPMG, stated, "We hope this forum will provide meaningful insights for setting future national policy directions."
Gu Tae-eon, Head of the APT Division at Lin, said, "Stablecoins go beyond being simple virtual assets; they have the potential to enhance payment efficiency and realize borderless finance. However, given the persistent risks of money laundering and hacking, this forum will focus on discussing alternatives to balance innovation and security."
