"Number One in the Chinese Smartphone Market for Two Consecutive Weeks"
"Chinese Smartphone Market Is Undergoing Change"
Huawei has reclaimed the top spot in the Chinese smartphone market, driven by the popularity of its newly released smartphone models.
On December 11, Chinese media outlets including China Network, citing data released by market research firm BCI, reported that Huawei has maintained its number one position in the Chinese smartphone market for two consecutive weeks, thanks to the recently launched Mate 80 series.
According to the reports, the Huawei Mate 80 series is a highly competitive smartphone, boasting features such as long battery life and advanced color correction. Notably, it is 800 yuan (approximately 160,000 won) cheaper than the previous generation, which has attracted significant consumer attention.
From November 24 to 30, Huawei captured a 27.81% share of the Chinese smartphone market, significantly ahead of Apple's 17.12%. During the same period, domestic brands such as OPPO and Vivo followed in the rankings. From December 1 to 7, Huawei maintained its lead for a second consecutive week with a 22.89% market share, while Apple followed with 18.65%.
In mid-November, Chinese media reported that Apple had ranked first in the Chinese smartphone market with a 24.5% share, followed by Xiaomi at 17.3%.
Chinese media outlets, reporting on Huawei's regained market share, interpreted this as evidence that consumer trust in the Chinese smartphone ecosystem is being restored.
China Network stated, "The Chinese smartphone market is changing. It is no longer a stage for Apple alone." The report continued, "Chinese brands are continuously challenging Apple with innovations in hardware, charging speed, and AI features. As product differentiation becomes more difficult, the reasonable pricing of domestic brands is becoming a competitive tool in the market."
