All Remaining Allegations to Be Probed
Yoon Sukyeol to Be Summoned for Questioning on the 17th
First Lady Kim Gunhee appeared before Special Prosecutor Min Jungki's team on December 11 to be questioned regarding suspicions surrounding the Jongmyo tea gathering and alleged preferential treatment in the relocation of the presidential residence. As the investigation period is set to end soon, this is expected to be the final in-person questioning of Kim. The special prosecutor's investigation period runs until December 28.
On December 3, 2025, at the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-gu, Seoul, the sentencing hearing for Kim Gunhee, who is accused of stock manipulation and solicitation related to the Unification Church, was underway as Kim Gunhee entered the defendant's seat.
At approximately 9:45 a.m. on this day, Kim arrived at the special prosecutor's office, located at KT Gwanghwamun Building West in Jongno-gu, by Ministry of Justice transport vehicle. This marks the third time Kim has appeared in person before the special prosecutor’s team for questioning since her indictment and detention.
During the questioning, the special prosecutor’s team plans to probe all remaining allegations that have not yet been brought to trial. These include suspicions that Kim held a tea gathering with outsiders at Mangmyoru in Jongmyo on September 3 last year, allegedly using national heritage for private purposes, as well as allegations that she and former President Yoon attended a party at the VIP Pavilion for Navy Commanders in August 2023.
The investigation also covers suspicions that 21Gram, an interior company without a general construction license, received preferential treatment in winning contracts for the relocation and expansion of the presidential office and residence after former President Yoon took office. In addition, the team plans to look into allegations that Kim received a Roger Vivier bag worth approximately 2.6 million won from the spouse of Kim Ki-hyun, a lawmaker from the People Power Party, in exchange for supporting his campaign for party leader in March 2023.
Kim was indicted and detained on August 29 on charges related to the alleged stock manipulation of Deutsche Motors, intervention in Myung Taegyun’s nomination, and solicitation involving Geonjin Bopsa and the Unification Church. The first trial verdict is scheduled for January 28.
The special prosecutor’s team is expected to summon former President Yoon Seokyeol for questioning on December 17 and may indict the couple on additional charges within the investigation period.
