First in the Display Industry to Obtain Certification
Strengthening Leadership in the Premium OLED Market and Technology
LG Display has become the first in the display industry to obtain cybersecurity certification for automotive organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels. The company is being recognized for strengthening its technological leadership to gain an early lead in the software-defined vehicle (SDV) market.
On December 8, LG Display announced that its new automotive OLED products have received the 'Automotive Cybersecurity Engineering International Standard (ISO/SAE 21434)' certification from UL Solutions, a global safety science verification company. This certification is a system that verifies whether a company has established processes to manage and respond to cyberattack risks throughout the entire lifecycle of a vehicle, including development, production, supply, and disposal. LG Display's achievement is seen as a proactive move to strengthen its response capabilities and enhance its competitiveness in securing orders, in line with the global trend of tightening automotive security standards.
At an award ceremony held earlier this month at LG Science Park in Magok, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, Kwon Geuk-sang, Head of the Auto Business Group at LG Display, received the 'Automotive Cybersecurity Engineering International Standard (ISO/SAE 21434)' certificate from Jung Ryun, Head of UL Solutions Korea. LG Display has designed its products to be resistant to hacking from the development stage and has implemented enhanced security devices in the circuits during production. Through this certification, LG Display has been recognized not only for its product and technological competitiveness in automotive displays, but also for its stable supply capabilities and comprehensive cybersecurity competence to ensure user safety.
As the global automotive industry transitions to SDVs, Europe is making automotive security certification mandatory for automakers and is extending this requirement to the parts industry. In particular, automotive displays are gaining attention for their importance in security certification, as they are key components that connect software and drivers.
LG Display plans to leverage its development and production system for automotive OLED products that meet cybersecurity certification standards to create differentiated customer value and further enhance its global competitiveness in securing orders. Kwon Geuksang, Head of the Auto Business Group at LG Display, stated, "We will strengthen our position as a leader in the premium display market."
