The unveiling ceremony, hosted and organized by the Docheok-myeon Sports Association, was attended by over 150 guests, including Mayor Bang Se-hwan, the chairperson of the city council, city and provincial council members, and heads of local institutions and organizations, who celebrated the launch of the newly renovated Docheok Sports Town.
This year, Docheok Sports Town was newly established, with major facilities such as a regulation-size soccer field and a futsal field being upgraded, and various community sports infrastructure, including tennis courts, foot volleyball courts, Ssireum (Korean wrestling) grounds, and gateball fields, being refurbished.
In particular, the gymnasium was expanded by 718 square meters on the fifth floor, transforming it into a multi-purpose sports complex with a total area of 2,654 square meters, establishing itself as a key hub for community sports in the region.
The subsequent joint year-end party was co-hosted and organized by five Docheok-myeon organizations: the Village Leaders’ Council, the Residents’ Autonomous Committee, the Saemaeul Male and Female Leaders’ Council, and the Community Social Security Council. The event reviewed the major achievements of Docheok-myeon over the past year, such as the stable operation of the 21st presidential election, the successful hosting of the 27th Docheok-myeon Residents’ Day, and attaining third place overall in the Happiness Division at the 54th Citizens’ Day.
Head of Docheok-myeon Ko Hyungkeun stated, "Thanks to the dedicated cooperation of the Docheok-myeon Sports Association and each organization, we were able to conclude the year in a stable and successful manner," adding, "We will continue to work together for the ongoing development of the community."
