Out of a total of 325 schools in Daejeon, 162 schools participated in the December 4 general strike organized by the Daejeon School Irregular Workers’ Solidarity Council.


Despite the strike, 230 schools continued to provide regular meals, while 94 schools offered substitute meals consisting of ready-made items such as bread, milk, and gimbap.


The remaining one school adjusted its academic schedule so that meal service was not required.


Among the 5,417 education support staff members at the 325 schools in Daejeon, 749 staff members from 162 schools participated in the general strike, representing a participation rate of 13.8%.


By job category, the largest group of participants was nutritionists and cooks, totaling 515. Additionally, 32 after-school care staff, 79 kindergarten after-school program staff, and 123 staff from other job categories joined the strike.
