Professor Yoo Jae-seok: "An Earlobe Crease Does Not Equal Cardiovascular Disease"
A medical specialist has analyzed that the diagonal crease observed on the earlobe of comedian Kim Suyong (59), who recently collapsed due to acute myocardial infarction, is unlikely to be a precursor symptom of cardiovascular disease.

Professor Yoo Jaeseok, a thoracic medicine specialist at Asan Medical Center in Seoul and the real-life model for the character Kim Junwan in the tvN drama "Hospital Playlist," appeared on tvN's "You Quiz on the Block" on the 3rd. Regarding Kim Suyong's earlobe crease, he said, "The formation of creases on the ear is a natural phenomenon of aging," and added, "There is no need to be overly concerned that you might have cardiovascular disease just because you have an earlobe crease."
Professor Yoo stated, "After seeing the news about Kim Suyong, I noticed the focus on the earlobe crease and reviewed several papers and materials. It is called 'Frank's sign,' named after Dr. Sanders T. Frank, who first discovered it," and added, "However, it is difficult to say that there is a clear medical causal relationship," explaining his position.

Sudden Onset of Myocardial Infarction... "Golden Time Is 2 to 3 Hours"
Professor Yoo explained, "Myocardial infarction is the leading cause of sudden death," and described it as "a disease in which the coronary artery supplying blood to the heart muscle becomes blocked, causing necrosis of the myocardium." He also cautioned that "recently, due to dietary habits, obesity, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and smoking, the incidence among younger people is rapidly increasing."
He continued, "The symptom that appears before myocardial infarction is angina," explaining, "When the heart's blood vessels narrow, it causes a squeezing chest pain, and if left untreated, part of the heart muscle becomes necrotic." He further emphasized that the golden time after the onset of myocardial infarction is within 2 to 3 hours, highlighting the importance of prompt emergency treatments such as stent insertion.
Previously, on November 13, Kim Suyong suddenly collapsed while filming YouTube content at a location in Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, and was transported to a nearby hospital's emergency room. At the time, his condition was critical, but he regained consciousness and was moved to the intensive care unit.
He is now reported to be recovering his health. On the 3rd, the YouTube channel "VIVO TV" released a video titled "Kim Suyong's Latest Update Revealed for the First Time: Kim Suyong's Spicy Afterlife Jokes That Even Song Euni & Kim Sook Can't Stop," in which Kim Suyong personally shared his current status. He said, "I've said goodbye to cigarettes. Now, I've written down all the things I shouldn't eat as if it's a bucket list," and added, "I've listed alcohol, cigarettes, hamburgers, cola, cake, grilled meat, and more. I also heard that exercise is important."
