Will File for False Accusation" On the 5th, at the public hearing of the Democratic Party of Korea's Task Force (TF) for "Overcoming Judicial Distrust and Normalizing Judicial Administration" held at the National Assembly, TF member Jang Kyungtae is speaking. 2025.11.25 Photo by Kim Hyunmin

At a press conference held at the National Assembly that day, Assemblyman Jang stated, "There was no harassment," adding, "The complaint was filed more than a year after the alleged incident. I will file a criminal complaint against the accuser for false accusation to clarify their intentions and motives."

He claimed that the essence of the incident was "dating violence" by the accuser's boyfriend, referred to as Mr. A. Assemblyman Jang explained, "During the dinner gathering, a man suddenly appeared, shouted loudly, and started to use violence. I hurriedly left the scene, and afterward, someone reported the man's violent behavior to the police in an attempt to stop it."

He continued, "If the police had been dispatched because of harassment, I would have certainly been investigated. There was absolutely no such incident."

Assemblyman Jang stated, "The accuser was reportedly unable to go to work the next day due to being confined and assaulted by her boyfriend, and her colleagues were concerned for her as a victim of dating violence," emphasizing, "These circumstances are unrelated to harassment." He also announced his intention to file a complaint and accusation against Mr. A, who is an aide to the Dongdaemun District Mayor affiliated with the People Power Party.

When asked why he did not file a complaint against Mr. A for violence at the time of the incident, he responded, "I felt I had to leave the scene as I thought I was in danger. As a public figure, I was very cautious about filing a complaint for violence."

The police received a complaint on the 25th from a woman who claimed to have been sexually harassed by Assemblyman Jang and have launched an investigation. It is reported that the woman alleges Assemblyman Jang committed harassment at a year-end gathering last year. Assemblyman Jang has denied these allegations. Through his social media, he stated, "I will respond firmly, including taking legal action, against false accusations and related slander that are not based on facts."
