Busan National University (President Choi Jaewon) held the '2025 PNU International Food Tech Cooperation Program' on November 26-27 at Hotel Nongshim in Busan and the university's Mechanical Engineering Building International Conference Hall, launching efforts to establish a global cooperation network with the participation of overseas research institutes and companies, as well as domestic industry, academia, research, and government sectors.
Busan National University is holding an international cooperation program for innovation in the global seaweed and food tech industry and is taking a commemorative photo.
This program was organized as Busan National University selected 'Total Food Tech (Food-X)' as one of its ten key research focus areas, aiming to strengthen international competitiveness in various applied industries such as seaweed-based foods, healthcare, industrial materials, and cosmetics.
The event was attended by more than 60 participants, including representatives from the Netherlands, Norway, India, and Vietnam, as well as domestic universities, research institutes, and companies.
On the first day, there were presentations and discussions on the global seaweed industry and food tech, followed by open forums and networking sessions to discuss potential areas of cooperation by country and institution.
The following day featured a signing ceremony for a letter of intent on international partnerships, marking the starting point for practical collaboration such as joint research, personnel exchanges, and joint project implementation.
Busan National University explained that through this program, the university not only strengthened its research and educational capabilities but also established a cooperative platform that enables local startups and small and medium-sized enterprises to connect with a global network. The university plans to pursue follow-up meetings, joint research, and personnel exchange programs with participating institutions in the future.
President Choi Jaewon of Busan National University stated, "As Busan National University approaches its 80th anniversary next year, we aim to present a global model for education and research. Through this international food tech cooperation program, we will lead food tech innovation with partners from around the world and further strengthen our role as a national university that grows alongside the regional industry."
