In the early morning at the Naro Space Center in Goheung, Jeonnam, the Nuri (KSLV-II) was launched and successfully entered its planned orbit. It is the first Korean launch vehicle produced under private sector leadership.
Many of the key players behind the successful fourth launch of Nuri were companies and institutions from the Gyeongnam region.
Hanwha Aerospace, headquartered in Changwon, Gyeongnam, received technology transfer from the Korea Aerospace Research Institute and was responsible for engine manufacturing and assembly, as well as participating in launch operations. In addition, related companies within the province contributed their technology and support as partner companies.
Hyundai Rotem, also based in Changwon, designed and manufactured combustion performance test facilities for each stage of the launch vehicle, while the main payload, the next-generation medium-sized satellite No. 3, was developed by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), headquartered in Sacheon.
The fairing of Nuri was produced by Space Pro (formerly Korea Fiber), which operates its headquarters in Miryang and a business site in Hamyang, while the Space Aviation Administration in Sacheon oversaw the launch and handled administrative support and processing.
