Chairman Kim Yongseok Visits Incheon Gyeyang and Bucheon Daejang Districts
Personally Inspects Progress of Wide-Area Transportation Infrastructure Projects
On the 25th, Kim Yongseok, Chairman of the Metropolitan Area Wide Transportation Committee at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, asked the relevant agencies to "swiftly complete transportation measures such as the widening works on Beolmal-ro and Ojeong-ro, as Incheon Gyeyang is scheduled to welcome its first residents in December next year and Bucheon Daejang in November 2027, making them the earliest among the third new towns to begin occupancy."
Visiting the Incheon Gyeyang and Bucheon Daejang public housing districts that day, Chairman Kim said, "The Metropolitan Area Wide Transportation Committee will actively play the role of mediator in addressing the various conflicts and differing opinions that arise during the project implementation process." He continued, "Under the overarching principle of ensuring transportation convenience for residents, I ask the relevant agencies to promptly remove any obstacles and complete the projects in a timely manner so that they can serve as leading examples for other new towns."

The Incheon Gyeyang and Bucheon Daejang districts visited by Chairman Kim are large-scale public housing districts with a total area about 2.3 times the size of Yeouido (approximately 6.78 million square meters), where 36,000 housing units will be supplied. They are being developed as converged cities that combine high-tech industries, pleasant residential environments, and abundant green spaces.
To secure wide-area mobility within the Seoul metropolitan region, the government is promoting the widening of arterial roads such as Beolmal-ro, Ojeong-ro, and Sosa-ro, as well as the construction of a northern bypass road for the Daejang district (connecting Beolmal-ro and Daejang-ro). It also plans to build new interchanges (ICs) on the Incheon International Airport Expressway, the Gwangmyeong-Seoul Expressway, and the Gyeongin Expressway.
At the Section 2 construction site in Incheon Gyeyang on the same day, Chairman Kim personally inspected the progress of the metropolitan transportation infrastructure projects, identified factors causing delays and difficulties, and discussed solutions with the relevant agencies.
