At the Simmons Factorium, which is ten times the size of a soccer field, the students toured a world-class sleep research R&D center and experienced a quality management system that is even stricter than national certification standards, including rolling tests and drop impact tests.
They also learned about the convergence of science and technology in the modern wellness industry by observing sleep environment research using a thermal manikin in the artificial climate chamber and data-driven product development processes in the Sensory Science Analysis Lab. In addition, they explored Simmons' in-house production and direct delivery systems, learning about the company's manufacturing innovation that emphasizes cleanliness and quality control, and experienced ESG management and community coexistence models at Simmons Terrace.
An Tae-yeop, president of the Business Administration student association, said, "It was very beneficial to see the production and operations management and quality management theories we learned in the classroom applied at a world-class company. In particular, I was impressed by the thorough quality management system and the innovative, customer-oriented delivery service."
Lee Sangwoo, head of the Department of Business Administration, stated, "I hope that through this field trip, students have confirmed the growth potential of the sleep science-based wellness industry and recognized the importance of quality management and creating customer value. We will continue to provide various opportunities for field learning in rapidly growing Well-tech sectors so that our students can develop into specialized professionals."
